Abdul is the youngest of four children. His father works as a gatekeeper, and his older siblings—mostly teenagers—have never been to school. They spend their days doing menial jobs just to survive, their dreams lost in the struggle of daily life.
But Abdul’s story is different.
A Boy Who Dreams of Education
Abdul has a friend who attends a school near their neighborhood. Whenever his friend goes to school, Abdul feels left behind. So, he spends his days standing outside the school gate, waiting for classes to end so he can play with his friend. Every day, Abdul watches as the children enter and leave the school—longing to be a part of their world.
The teachers at the school began to notice Abdul’s presence, day after day, waiting by the gate. They were touched by his eagerness, but heartbroken by his situation. They knew about the work Core Start Education Foundation does to provide scholarships for underprivileged children in Nigeria, so they reached out to us and shared Abdul’s story.
